Cataloging of Jewish collections of the Historical Archives of Sombor
11.5.2021.

The Cataloging of Jewish collections of the Historical Archives of Sombor is a comprehensive project of the Historical Archive of Sombor which includes work on unpublished archives from the fonds: The Magistrate of the Free and Royal City 1749-1918 and Birth, Marriage and Death Records 1718-1949 that refer to Jewish sources.

These documents have been selected, transcribed, translated and digitised and are made accessible through this online database. The documents are fully translated into English and Serbian, along with transcripts of the original documents and digital images, and all four versions are presented online in this database.

The head of the project is prof. dr Haris Dajč (University of Belgrade, Faculty of Philosophy), there were 8 researchers engaged in project and 2 associates.   This project is supported by the Rothschild Foundation Hanadiv Europe. The partners of the Historical Archive of Sombor on this project are the University Library “Svetozar Markovic” and the Federation of Jewish Communities of Serbia.
