NEWS FROM WORLD AND ISRAEL

March for Peace in Israel held in Belgrade
18.10.2023.

A March for Peace in Israel was held Sunday in downtown Belgrade. The participants lit candles for the victims of the attacks in Israel, read a peace prayer, and held a moment of silence for all those who have been killed. People carried Israeli flags, a banner reading ‘March for Israel’, and photos of the killed and kidnapped.

The Haver Serbia organization said the March for Peace is dedicated to all the victims of the October 7 terrorist attack, their families, and friends.

"Thank you to everyone for coming to this Peace Walk for Israel. The horrifying images from Israel that were seen around the world last weekend, and the brutal terrorist crimes against civilians, including many children, young and old, must never be forgotten!

This was a planned and organized attack with one goal: To kill as many Jews as possible. This day will be remembered in history as the biggest pogrom on Jews since the Second World War. It is our human duty to loudly condemn and stand up against this cruel act of terrorism. It is not the time for silence!
As our well-known writer Ivan Ivanji wrote: "If the conflict, as until now, had been more or less limited to mutual rocket attacks, even though that too is terrible, my sympathy might remain divided between the Palestinians and the Israelis. Maybe. But after this indescribable savagery, I cannot remain calm. Can anyone?"

In these difficult days when we are all deeply shaken and worried about what the future holds, it is important that above all else we value human life and believe in a more peaceful future.

Establishing Peace will be difficult and long-term, but this is possible with much Courage, Empathy, Solidarity, Strength, Responsibility, Understanding, and Hope. This Peace Walk is dedicated to all the victims of the October 7th terrorist attack, their families, and friends. We join in mourning with the victims' families while at the same time praying that all the hostages be released and returned to their homes.

We invite all of us together, to commence in this dignified walk up Knez Mihailova Street to the Pobednik in Kalemegdan where we will light candles for the innocent victims and read a prayer for peace. We condole with the victims' families as we pray for all the hostages to be released and return home,” said this organization.
