"I will write them (the words of the Lord) on the doorposts of my houses and on my doors." (Deuteronomy 6: 9)
A festive ceremony on the occasion of affixing mezuzoth at the doorposts of interior rooms in the Federation of Jewish Communities of Serbia, was held on Monday 28th 2021 in the FJC Belgrade headquarters in Kneginje Ljubice 14.
The event was attended by the President of FJC – Robert Sabadoš and all employees.
Before affixing the first mezuzah, Rabbi Isak Asiel said a few words on the significance and symbolism of the mezuzah, and her role to constantly remind Jewish people to their devotion to God and their moral obligation, and emphasized that no Jewish house should be without a mezuzah.
The ceremony was also attended by Mrs. Ester Bajer, who donated funds for the construction and equipping of the kosher kitchen in the Federation. She was given the honor of placing the mezuzah at the doorpost of the kosher kitchen, which she accepted with excitement and joy.
The first mezuzah on the main building entrance door in the Federation of Jewish Communities of Serbia, was affixed last year by the Israeli ambassador, H.E. Yahel Vilan.
